With our time in South Carolina coming to an end very soon, P and I have been trying to see and do as much as we can since we likely will not be back here until after he’s out of the Navy in 2020. It’s a weird and sad thought… especially in the past two months, South Carolina has started to feel more and more like a home to me. Part of me feels like I’m still a Washingtonian at heart, but so much of me fits in better in the South Carolina environment and lifestyle that it’s hard to not feel like I’ve lived here my whole life too. But don’t worry, family and friends… we will still be moving back to Washington for good someday and are still hoping it will be sooner rather than later! Home is ultimately where the family is and unfortunately, our families are not in South Carolina. But hey, it’s all good because sooner or later I’ll be able to go back to wearing sweaters, leggings, and boots every day for about 10 months out of the year 😉
P had another 4 day weekend this past weekend. From the moment we got his schedule, we’d been planning on making a trip to Savannah with Roscoe but several weeks ago decided to instead break the weekend up into two day trips – one to Savannah and one to Beaufort – so that we could also get time at home and see more of South Carolina.
We started the weekend out with a trip to Beaufort figuring it would be the better of the two trips to make with Roscoe! It’s such a beautiful town with a coastal vibe and even though there’s nowhere near as much to do there as there is in other cities, it was well worth the trip!
After our time in Beaufort, we drove around a lot and eventually ended up in Port Royal where we found a little beach that Roscoe enjoyed exploring. Beaches that aren’t directly on the coast are SO different here! It’s almost like a beach in a swamp.
The only thing we didn’t get to do was go to the Old Sheldon Church Ruins because they were closed when we got there… but it ended up being okay because we were able to see them when we went to Savannah, which will be up on the blog tomorrow 🙂
I hope everyone had a great weekend! Happy Monday!
