I’ve been SO excited to explore other cities in the south after seeing how absolutely beautiful Charleston is. It’s definitely true what they say about southern charm! After my friend Katelyn visited Savannah, I definitely wanted to check it out as well. The pictures you find on Pinterest when you search “Savannah” are simply breathtaking! I was so happy we were able to fit a second day trip in over my husband’s 4-day weekend so that we could make the trip to Savannah.
Unfortunately or fortunately – it depends how you look at it! – the day we went was super overcast all day. At least it wasn’t very hot while we were out and about, but some blue sky in pictures would have been nice! Photographer problems, I guess 😉
On the way to Savannah, we stopped by the Old Sheldon Church Ruins again hoping that they would be open this time. THEY WERE OPEN!!! The ruins were even more interesting and beautiful than I thought. So much happened at the site and it was special to be close to so much history.

After stopping by the ruins, we got back on the road to Savannah. It’s absolutely amazing how much you can see and do in that city in just one day! Our first stop was the Bonaventure Cemetery as we had heard it was a “must see” and the pictures online looked absolutely amazing. It did not disappoint!

We finally made our way to historic downtown Savannah around lunchtime. After grabbing a quick lunch, we were off exploring again!

On the way out of town, we swung by our last stop, Juliette Low’s birthplace. She was the founder of Girl Scouts and as a Girl Scout for many years (with a mother and grandmother who have been members forever) it was really special to see! We did not go on the tour inside (I thought I’d save that for a mother-daughter trip to Savannah someday down the road!) but it was still cool to see.
Our time in Savannah went by so fast but we saw everything we wanted to which completely amazes me. Never underestimate how much you can see from the Charleston area just in day trips!
On the way home, we were close enough to the Hilton Head Tanger Outlets that my amazing husband said we should stop, which was awesome because it’s one of two places in the state that they have a Kate Spade outlet. After sales and military discounts (Kate Spade outlets do 15% off… who knew?!) I got a mint wallet for a steal. No more too small wallet and it’s mint which along with purple is my favorite color!
Roscoe was super happy when we got home of course! I cannot wait for our next day trips. We have a couple more planned before we leave Charleston and I cannot wait to see as much as I can of this area before we leave!
xoxo
