Zoo Days

One main thing that I’ve learned from diving into the world of portrait photography is that making sure you’re still shooting things for yourself is just as important as the countless hours you spend working on websites, social media, and planning and editing sessions. Animals and wildlife are two things that I LOVE to photograph but never see myself “going pro” in. They’re fun, but they’re fun that I do for myself.

We went to the zoo over the snowy weekend and the only animals that weren’t really out were the giraffes. Giraffes are my favorite, so I knew I had to go back! I’m so happy with the zoo situation here… not only do they have giraffes, but the zoo is about a 5 minute detour on my normal way home from school AND local college students get in free! I think it’s safe to say I will be going there at least every couple weeks on my way home from school. 🙂

The red panda was also out this past Friday when I went by to see the giraffes and the pictures I got put the pictures I’d taken a week earlier to shame. So here are some highlights from my first two trips to the Virginia Zoo, and here’s to many more zoo trips to come!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
